What we do

Five things we do so you only have to decide once.

Everything on VPNHonest is free to read and funded by affiliate commissions. Here is exactly what you get, who each part is for, and what it is not.

Full service reviews

Forty-two services, each bought anonymously and put through the same battery: speed on three continents, leak tests on every platform, a line-by-line read of the logging policy. Re-tested quarterly, dated on the page.

Deal tracking that shows renewals

We check prices every Monday and record both numbers: what you pay now and what it renews at. When a “72% off” banner is really a price rise in disguise, the table says so.

Weekly streaming tests

A dedicated rig checks nine Netflix regions plus BBC iPlayer and DAZN every week, per service. If your VPN for Netflix stopped working on Tuesday, our table already knows.

Setup guides for real situations

Hotel captive portals, airline Wi-Fi, a router for the family, split tunnelling so your bank app still works. Written for a laptop on a bed at 11pm, not for a network engineer.

What we do not do

Just as useful: the things we stay out of

We do not sell VPN subscriptions, resell white-label services, publish sponsored posts, or accept payment for a review. We do not run a “top 10” that rotates with commission season, and we do not review antivirus suites we have not installed ourselves.

If a service will not let us test it properly — no refund window, no way to buy anonymously — we leave it unrated rather than guess.

Suggest a test

Readers set about a third of our test schedule. If a service you use is missing, or a claim in a review no longer matches what you see, tell us and we will re-run it.
